Speak up

When Jesus asked 2 questions of the disciples, the second one was harder for the disciples to speak up about.  Well, all but Peter actually…what he said is more than fodder for what we need say about we believe…when someone asks us:  “You go to church don’t you?  Do you really believe Jesus is the savior of the world?  What DO you believe?”  Speak Up

Matthew 16:16-20

On Getting Out of the Boat

Walking on water is about courage, faith boldness…but ‘trying harder’ AS PETER DID, doesn’t address the steadiness of the disciples (and their trying harder as they pulled their oars against the wind and waves. What’s more it doesn’t allow us to see where Jesus was and what he DID in this passage. Jesus was a very present help in time of trouble…to the one who stepped from the boat and the ones who stayed inside it. Jesus’ presence and power is the key to this passage not whether we have the faith and courage to step out of the boat.

Matthew 14:22-23
